Masaya Volcano Lava Tour

The Volcano Masaya National Park is one of the most attractive tourist attractions in the Pacific, offering us the opportunity to have direct contact with the area of its crater and its surroundings, as well as flora and fauna. During the night, I offer a spectacle that marvels at its nocturnal visitors: the appreciation of the so-called “incandescent lava lake” seen from the very edge of the crater.

With the fall of the night, begins the nocturnal visit to the volcano. There begins the amazing: the sky darkening or totally dark lets you see its thousands of star, the wind runs through the place. A rumor sounds like sea. And a shore of the crater, the bottom of it, the impressive lake of lava moves with its color of incandescence. The visit lasts between 10 and 20 minutes, after which the guides and park rangers request to leave the area and leave the park, for gas emanations and is an active volcano.

The Masaya Volcano National Park comprises an area of 54km² which includes two volcanoes and five craters. Volcanoes have erupted several times and formerly frightened Spanish natives and conquerors. The Spaniards baptized the active volcano “La Boca del Infierno”. In the 16th century they put “La Cruz de Bobadilla” (by Father Francisco Bobadilla), at the mouth of the crater to exorcize the devil.

The eruptions have had a dramatic impact on the surroundings. Volcanic rocks still cover the surroundings. The nature is a bit rough, Different types of vegetation appeared after the eruptions. The park is inhabited by several types of animals. The park’s wildlife includes chocoyos, coyotes, skunks, raccoons, opossums, iguanas, deer and monkeys.

There are many other paths that lead to the other craters to the cave of Tzinaconostoc where there are hundreds of nests of bats. Roads vary in distance between 1.4 and 5.9 kilometers, and visitors are accompanied by guides.
